Meta Pixel tracking

How the Now Book It booking widget fires Meta (Facebook) Pixel events.

Go to Venue settings > Diary > Integrations

Basic setup

Once you've added a Pixel ID, the widget starts firing Meta Pixel events on its own. Nothing else to set up.

What the widget sends

The Meta Pixel runs completely separately from your Google Analytics settings. Even if you've turned on analytics=bubble to send Google events to your own page instead, that doesn't touch Meta Pixel, it always fires inside the widget itself, no matter which mode you're in.

That also means Meta Pixel events can't be sent to your own page the way Google events can. If you need Meta data on your own page, use the Google Tag Manager method described here instead.

Screen views

The Meta Pixel only tracks page views. One event per widget screen, using the same page names listed below. Each event's content_category is set to the venue's name.

Error, Select Venue, Booking Details (landing), Booking Details (takeaway), Customer Details, Payment Details, Thank You, Manage Booking, Standby List, Payment Details (private function), Payment Confirmation.

Additional Meta tracking

The built-in Meta Pixel only reports page views. If you want to track actual conversions in Meta, bookings made, payments taken, and so on - you can build those as Meta custom conversions from the widget's Google Tag Manager events, using Meta's own Events Manager and their official Tag Manager template.

The exact event names, categories and data for every booking event are documented in our Google Tag Manager & Google Analytics tracking article. That's the one to check when you're setting these up.
